First round dates extended

Hello everyone! Good news for all of you-we’ve decided to extend the deadline for sending in the solutions of the first round. The deadline is now 10:00pm(2200 hours), January 8th 2012.

Registrations for InCTF 2012 have begun

So finally registrations have started for InCTF 2012!

InCTF ‘12 is from November 2011 to January 2012 and is focused exclusively on the student community. You can participate from your own university and no travel is required. No prior exposure or experience in cyber security needed to participate.
What you need to do?
1. Form a team (max five members from your college)
2. Approach a faculty/mentor and request him/her to mentor your team
3. Register online at http://inctf.in

In addition it’s been decided that teams which finished in the top 10 places on InCTF 2011 qualify directly for the second round-they do not have to participate in the first round. Congratulations to all these teams!

25K	The winning team receives a cash prize of up to Rs. 25000/-
20K	The first runner-up team receives a cash prize of up to Rs. 20000/-
15K	The second runner-up team receives a cash prize of up to Rs. 15000/-
10K	The third runner-up team receives a cash prize of up to Rs. 10000/-

Direct qualification to second round of InCTF ’12

We felt that teams who performed well in the previous edition, InCTF ’11, need not take part in the first round. Hence, we decided that the teams who finished in the top 10 places in InCTF ’11 qualify directly to the second round. The teams however have to clear second round in order to make it to the final round. Congrats to all those who qualify-start preparing for the second round . However, we advice the teams to take part in first round or at least check out the first round questions just to ensure you don’t end up missing something important.

Poster Designing Contest

Note: The poster designing contest is not a part of InCTF ’12 and does not have relation with the actual InCTF ’12 contest whatsoever. This contest is to encourage students to come up with innovative posters related to cyber security.

We are now on the look out for posters to promote Cyber Security Awareness in India, so that users can be made aware of the potential threats they could face lest they don’t follow certain practices and guidelines. For example, it could be a simple but powerful poster conveying why users need to secure their wireless networks, use secure passwords etc. Here are some themes to get you started – Securing Wireless networks, Choosing Safe Passwords, Phishing Attacks, Security Tips, Email-attachments.

There are exciting prizes in store for the best posters!
